Why Photo Frames Are a Recycling Nightmare
A single photo frame contains 4 different materials — glass, wood, metal nails, and plastic backing. When thrown in regular dry waste, these frames break, injure workers, and end up in landfills. Sampige Foundation solves this by manually disassembling each frame and routing every material to its correct recycling stream.
Prevent Injuries
Broken glass in garbage trucks hurts sanitation staff daily
Mixed Material Problem
Standard recycling cannot handle multi-material items
Save Trees
Recovered wood reduces fresh timber consumption
Zero Landfill Goal
100% of frame materials get a second life

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just throw old photo frames in BBMP dry waste collection?
Technically yes, but it's not recommended. Photo frames contain mixed materials (glass, wood, metal, plastic) that BBMP's standard recycling cannot handle properly. Glass often breaks and injures sanitation workers, and the frames usually end up in landfills. Sampige Foundation provides proper multi-material separation.
What sizes of photo frames do you accept?
We accept all sizes — from small table-top frames (4x6 inches) to large wall-mounted frames (24x36 inches and bigger). Posters, certificate frames, mirror frames, and even oversized decorative frames are all welcome.
Do I need to remove the photo from the frame before dropping off?
Yes, please remove any personal photos, certificates, or sentimental items before dropping off. We only recycle the frame itself. If the frame contains sacred/divine images, please let us know so we handle it with special reverence through our Religious Items program.
What is your drop-off address and timings?
Sampige Foundation, 1245, 4th Main Road, The Conservancy Lane, Nagappa Block, Srirampura, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru - 560021. Please call +91 77606 90264 or email sampigefoundation@gmail.com to confirm timings before visiting.
Can my office or housing society arrange a bulk pickup?
Yes! For 20+ frames, we offer free pickup from offices, housing societies, schools, and institutions within Bangalore. Please contact us at least 48 hours in advance to schedule.
How does Sampige Foundation recycle the materials?
Each frame is manually disassembled. Wood is sent to timber recycling partners, glass goes to glass recyclers, metals are routed to scrap metal processors, and plastics are sent to plastic recycling units. Nothing goes to landfill — 100% material recovery is our commitment.
