Access to clean, safe drinking water is a fundamental right. Yet, many rural and suburban government schools in Karnataka lack modern water purification infrastructure. Children are often forced to drink groundwater containing high total dissolved solids (TDS), fluoride, or microbial contaminants, leading to waterborne illnesses and missed school days.
Sampige Foundation’s Clean Drinking Water Provision initiative connects corporate CSR funding with hands-on employee volunteering to install heavy-duty, stainless-steel RO water purifiers in government schools across Bangalore.
How Corporate Teams Get Involved
This CSR engagement format combines funding for long-term infrastructure with meaningful employee participation:
School Need Assessment: Sampige Foundation conducts water quality testing at targeted schools to determine purification requirements.
1. Installation & Assembly: Corporate volunteers accompany technicians to the school, assemble water stand bases, help mount purification units, and conduct safety checks.
2. Water Awareness Sessions: Employees conduct interactive sessions for school children on the importance of hydration, personal hygiene, and handwashing.
3. First Sip Celebration: Volunteers and children celebrate the inaugural pour of crystal-clear, safe drinking water.
Sustainable Maintenance Assurance
To ensure the water units operate trouble-free for years, Sampige Foundation implements a 3-year Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) covering filter replacements, TDS calibration, and periodic water quality testing.
